dirtypop Submission Guidelines We want YOU to contribute! dirtypop is a social critique of music and pop culture that explores the many contradictions and injustices in mainstream media. dirtypop provides a forum for voices typically underrepresented in the print and art world, particularly those of women, people of color, the LBGT community, and the working class. We are looking (all the time!) for writers and artists to contribute to dirtypop. Check out the detailed guidelines below! |
What
dirtypop accepts pitches for short, front-of-the-mag pieces and for full-length feature essays. What follows are some descriptions to give y'all the flavor. Pitches should be approximately 100 words for short pieces and 500 words for features.

TheFine PrintA pitch for words should include a synopsis of your proposed piece, highlighting the elements or angle that make your story fresh and unique. For art submissions please include a brief bio, an artist's statement, and a description of the proposed project. Note that all art proposals should be accompanied by samples of your work. We do edit articles. Sorry! We will provide all writers and artists opportunities to revise and approve any work submitted for print. We want original stuff only! We're all about breaking new issues, so we're less interested it if it's appeared elsewhere. Finally, even if your idea does not fit into the above guidelines, send it to us anyway!
